Meet the Artist
Owner, Joy Works Paintings
Linda Dwyer is a Christian artist with a purpose…She paints to bring God glory and JOY to those who view her work. Linda has lived in Ruston, Louisiana 26 years with her husband, Sean, a business professor at Louisiana Tech, and they have three sons and a daughter in law, Sean, Connor, Rachel and Ryan. Linda is the owner of Joy Works Paintings, a mixed media on canvas painting business she does out of her home studio…she paints abstracts, Crosses, angels, and landscapes.
Prior to September 2016, Linda had hardly ever painted before. Becoming an empty nester, Linda prayed for her purpose and was prayed over "that new doors of opportunity would open for her and her family...that they would be purpose and destiny filled"...a week later she felt God put on her heart to start painting. Joy Works Paintings is really a miracle...she has painted over 1,700 paintings since she began painting! Her paintings are in a local Gallery and several local stores, many of her paintings have sold all over the country and she continually does commissioned work.
Linda prays over each piece and usually puts a small Cross in each painting. Painting angels and Crosses is something she felt God wanted her to do to remind people how real He is! Since Linda started painting, she has enjoyed taking classes from M. Douglas Walton at Loretta Shadow Owens studio here in Ruston. She has learned new techniques and these have helped her expand her creativity and business.
You can find Joy Works Paintings in Ruston Artisans Gallery where her art has been turned into scarves, handbags, and unique gifts as well as several other local stores...The Avenue, The Frame up, The Hair Studio on Park Avenue, Mitcham's Peach Gift Shop, Ruston Artisans Gallery. The Gallery has scarves, bags, etc. made from Linda's paintings...please stop by!
Linda’s Joy Works Paintings website is Joyworkspaintings.com, her works are also on Facebook and Instagram. Her hope is that people will sense JOY when they see her works and be encouraged by her experience and be reminded that “with God ALL things are possible”! Matthew 19:26.
